Castlevania : Lords of Shadow is a western styled action-adventure game for the Nintendo DS. It is the sequel to the classic game series Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. This set in the fantasy world of the Castlevania series, during the later parts of the First World War, its antagonist is Dracula, who had earlier awakened to the surface after a form of death. It tells the story of Gabriel Belmont, a young noble man who is the protagonist of the series. For years, Gabriel has been sent to spend his life in religious practice by the powerful Belmont family, which he considers to be his family. His past is also that of his sister, Sypha Belnades. After his father's death, Sypha fulfills the will of their parents and comes to live with Gabriel and his sister Sylvia, but also meets his lover Althea. Tony then swells up in the castle and the emperor of their palace brat, and so Sylvia is forced to refuse and return to her days of religious domination. The castle is then set in fire, the demons take the body of Althea and Gabriel will have to track down Althea before the demons tears her body. A group of men enter the castle's arena and establish their family, the Belmonts are the strongest and will succeed to win the tournament. Gabriel finally finds Althea and helps her. She asks him to find Dracula and helps to find him, eventually coming to an abandoned castle of the Belmonts. However, Dracula awakens and watches Gabriel to kill him with the man and take over the Christian world. Gabriel, therefore, embarks on a certain quest of revenge. He meets many people along the way and has to defeat many enemies, including Dracula, several incarnations of Dracula, Dracula's family, the Belmonts, and Lucian. Gabriel also meets Sypha's band, formed by the Belnades, and other characters in the game. On the way, Gabriel encounters enemies from the world of the Castlevania series, including Dracula's monsters. Once Gabriel defeats Dracula, Belmont has to enter a new castle to free his mother, Sypha's hometown, and a haunted house of Sylvia.
